How long do I have after the sheriff's sale in Michigan?+
6 months for most owner-occupied residential property. The sale date starts the redemption period. During these 6 months, you may remain in the property and: (1) redeem by paying the full bid amount plus interest and costs, (2) negotiate a cash-for-keys agreement with the purchaser, or (3) locate alternative housing. After 6 months, if you haven't redeemed or vacated, the purchaser can initiate eviction proceedings. If the property is found to be abandoned, the redemption period may be shortened to 30 days.
